One thing is for certain, meals are what residents look most forward to everyday! Dietary provide such attractive, appealing and tasty meals for the facility but staff got in on a special treat! Rob, the Dietary Manager wanted to reward the Liberty Staff with a cookout for the exceptional work that they perform daily. Thank You Rob for the cookout and everything that you and your staff do in meeting the high standards that you require for your department!

We have an Assisted Living resident who is a retired pastor and she continues to feel God's call on her life. Jean offered her willingness to conduct a scripture service for the residents in our community. They were thrilled to get back to a structured worship service and we will proceed with a weekly gathering. We appreciate Jean's passion for sharing Jesus and are thankful to be recipients of her prayer warrior attitude! Thank you Pastor Jean for making yourself available for such a vital ministry!
There are seniors who do still enjoy being active and we provide programming for those residents. Cardio Drumming was introduced to them since group programming opened back up. There were many favorable comments after our workout and they felt that it was not only great exercise but fun and the music was a nice addition to the program! Guess this one is a keeper!
This is one of our Liberty residents who insisted she wanted to purchase a tablet with some of her stimulus check. This turned out to be wise investment because there is so much she is willing to try on her new electronical device. She was already familiar with Candy Crush and it didn't take her long to claim the title, "Candy Crush Queen"! We give her so much credit for still having the interest in learning how to navigate in unfamiliar territory. She is working with therapy and the activity staff to develop the skills necessary to make the most of her purchase. Have fun and enjoy your new tablet, it won't be long before you will be teaching us some new things!
We celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of communal dining with an "All American Cookout"! Residents enjoyed hamburgers from the grill prepared by our administrator, other picnic fixins and Patriotic Slushes prepared with a Margarita Machine by our Admissions/Marketing employee! The atmosphere was lively with 50s music and red, white and blue decorations. It was a perfect time to celebrate a late 4th of July event and to promote patriotism in our community! God Bless America!
We are excited to share that we received a grant from the Ohio Department of Health to purchase Ipads. These Ipads will be available to our residents to facilitate face to face time with their families. Our activity staff is available to assist as needed for live chats. We know that it is difficult to be away from our family members so we are thrilled to be able to add one more way for our residents here to connect with their families.
We at Liberty are getting into a lively match of Balloons and Noodles. Not only is this fun but it is a little workout. We were listening to Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons which made it even more enjoyable! These are trying times but being able to spend time together, even from a distance, is so rewarding! We continue to make the best of things and hope and pray that all stay safe and healthy!
We are all aware of how COVID has changed everything, but nowhere does it hit home more than in the nursing homes and senior care facilities here and across the U.S. We have all been told to socially distance ourselves from others to avoid this disease. Many are finding ways to do this while staying home with hobbies, house and yard work that always used to get past us and of course the constant need to entertain and watch the kids who are no longer in school. People are working from home and adapting. Truth be told, everybody got sent home, but the changes forced us all into different routines. Unfortunately, the change is not as easy to contend with for seniors. The increased loneliness and isolation from families can have a devastating effect on our seniors. Please include you seniors in your new daily routine. Here are some ideas. . .
Jennifer Scott-Pike, our Infection Control Nurse at Liberty of Lima, was very instrumental in providing the requested data required by ODH for our Infection Control Survey! She was quick to reply that it was a team effort and everyone deserved credit. Jennifer is correct in saying that but most of collecting the information fell on her shoulders! We are proud to report that we had no citations at our facility! Thank you to all who contributed to this achievement!
We thought it would be a good idea to promote patriotism in our facility. So with Flag Day approaching us this weekend, residents participated in a coloring contest to commemorate it. These two ladies were very proud of their red, white and blue creations and were eager to share their accomplishments. They were awarded with a patriotic plastic cup filled with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Good job ladies!
