Decorating Committee Creates Another Work of Art

Getting to really know our residents has always been a Liberty priority and it helps our community members thrive. As an example, Jeffrey Whitmeyer, spent many years as a theatrical technician. Jeffrey created theatrical stages for multiple national tours, such as Phantom of the Opera, so he was eager and willing to share his talent with us. As decorating committee leader, he has once again designed a beautiful holiday display. This one is over our lobby's grand fireplace for everyone to enjoy. Thanks Jeffrey for getting us all in the Easter spirit, and we are looking forward to your next creation!

Creativity Time

Even though mornings are always bustling at our community, we try to fit a creative activity into our schedule most mornings. Arts and crafts or baking are very calming ways to start the day off and residents truly look forward to this time. Residents are applying their creativity and currently gearing up for spring by colorfully painting bird houses that we will eventually hang in our courtyard as the weather warms up.

A Toast to 2018

We had our first Happy Hour for 2018. It was a relaxing afternoon, enjoying the company of good friends, cold drinks and 50's rock and roll music. We reminisced about the past year, and made plans for new adventures in 2018. Everyone is looking forward to better weather and staying very busy!

Regularly Out and About

Meet Mr. John Henney, our Resident Council president, and Linda Cole our social worker. Together, they make an excellent sounding board for concerns and work on finding solutions, help promote friendships within the community, and even assist in planning activities and events. Mr. Henney can be seen regularly visiting neighbors, always staying accessible and engaged with everyone. Both residents and staff appreciate their warm interest and efforts.

Tree Trimming Underway

Christmas has officially begun for our community. We had all hands on deck this week (staff, residents and family members) helping to trim our massive tree. The honor of hanging the last ornament went to Tim Grimes, our maintenance man. Tim has been with us for four years. He does a wonderful job and was in charge of retrieving this giant from our storage area!

Gobble Gobble Gobble

Thanksgiving of course is a wonderful time for family, food and fun which perfectly describes our Family Feast this year. Mr. Travis Curry was the man of the hour. For 15 years he's taken great pride in what comes out of his kitchen. For this year's celebration, he served a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for over 100 people. As you can see, Travis takes his turkey carving quite seriously. The meal was a huge success, and we also want to thank family members who contributed to the dinner by providing delicious desserts made with love!

Everyone looks forward to Tuesday morning when our four-legged friends stop by for a visit. Residents benefit from the unconditional love and comfort they bring, and the visitors thrive on the attention, petting and hugs they receive. We all agree that our pet therapy mornings are the best medicine and these visitors are always welcome!

There's More Happiness in Giving Than Receiving

Two area sisters are on a special, faith-based, personal mission to spread love and inspiration to Liberty residents. But they insist that the joy they receive back from their audience can't be described. Patti and Cindy have been dropping by to see us every Thursday morning for the past 15 years, and their visits are nothing short of electric! Pulling from familiar gospel and pop rock CDs, they invite residents to not only choose the songs, but sing along and beef up the percussion with tambourines, bells and drumsticks. It's always a well-attended, toe-tapping morning that gets the blood pumping and everyone looks forward to. Thanks for all the love you bring ladies!

The 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s was held at the Ohio Health and Fitness Center this year and the weather couldn’t have cooperated better.
