One of our very special residents was able to go home this week after being with us for over two years. When CC first came to Liberty Nursing Center, she needed assistance with all her activities of daily living. She required help with bathing, feeding, transferring from bed to chair and back, making and receiving calls, and many other daily tasks.
Thanks to the dedication of our staff, the incredible support from our therapy department, and—most importantly—CC’s own grit and determination, she overcame obstacle after obstacle on her journey toward independence. That hard work paid off, and she is now able to return home to live with a loved one.
During her time here, CC became a friend to many. She consistently advocated for her fellow residents and showed a heart full of love and compassion in her daily interactions. When asked what she was most looking forward to about going home, she simply said, “I just want peace and contentment.”
As we all gathered to say goodbye, CC shared that she had promised herself if she ever got to go home, she would walk out the door instead of being wheeled out in a chair—and, in true CC fashion, she kept that promise.
We already miss her, and no doubt we’ll feel the void she’s left behind. But the joy we all felt watching her walk out that door is something we’ll carry with us for a long time.
