After a morning of listening to Christmas songs and frosting & eating some Christmas cookies, it was time for the judging to begin. Some of the staff lined up to show off their ugly sweaters and some of our residents did the official judging. In the Photo, left to right is Jamie LPN representing our nurses, Vanessa our dietary manger representing her wonderful staff, Jessica RN representing office staff and Jeff PT representing our activity department. The judges had a tough time making the decision and we have to wait to find out the winner!
Some Christmas elves form Richland County Clerk of Courts Title Department brought Christmas to Liberty. With the funds from their dress down Friday, they chose to grant our wish! We now have a 70 inch smart television that has already brought hours of enjoyment! We have taken a virtual trip to Bethlehem, had trivia games and games recognizing famous faces. We can now enjoy Sunday church services again as they are now streamed in by local church's on our new TV. It has also alowed us to listen to hours of our favorite Christmas songs. With a humble heart, we want to thank these kind employees that brought this joy to our community.
Maliyah at the young age of 21 decided to become CNA and caregiver. She joined our team here at Liberty back in April. At that time many challenges were just beginning to taking place. Maliyah embraced the new learning experience. She is always full of kindness and compassion. We see here as a young super hero with a beautiful smile under that mask!
After a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, what is a community to do? Well, a few games of bingo will pass the time quite nicely we all agreed! John's favorite day is "bingo" day and is always positive with the comment, "I WILL HAVE BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!"
Things were a little different this year with our Thanksgiving celebration. Our wonderful families have always provided the deserts for our Liberty family thanksgiving feast. This year the "Ladies of Liberty" provided a taste of home with home baked goodies. We served banana pudding, chocolate pie, sweet potato pie, pecan pie, lemon bars, strawberry cream cheese pie, apple cake and the list goes on and on. A big THANK YOU to the "Ladies of Liberty" that made all of this possible.
Our residents enjoy being a part of a social community. While social distancing, we spent many afternoons creating what we feel is a work of art. Our social distancing craft stick quilt was so much fun to create. It is on display for everyone to enjoy and admire. It is truly beautiful and our residents are very proud of what they accomplished.
Most of our community is very involved in the political process and most have been voting for many years. With the help of our board of election giving two staff members (one democrat & one republican) the opportunity to be sworn in and take the oath to be a certified poll worker our residents were able to participate in the process they hold so dear.
A dress rehearsal and photo-op was quickly done before our amazing therapy team would take our community to the land of oz. Staff and residents were treated to a day of fun and games along with a chili cook off, and lots of fresh doughnuts and hot cider. It was a wonderful day to see our residents smile and admire the creativity of our caring dedicated and wonderful therapy team!
Staff and residents had the honor of surprising our very own Wanda Randolph L.P.N. She is such a joy to work and an amazing nurse and she inspires all her co-workers to be the best we can be. Wanda is truly our super hero at 81 years old and she continues to provide the excellent care she expects from us all. HAPPY 81st BIRTHDAY Wanda!
