The Simple Joys of Warmer Days

We've been waiting patiently for warmer days to arrive and now it almost feels like August weather. A resident favorite on these muggy days is making homemade lemonaide. Part of the pleasure is experimenting with extra ingredients. Today's recipe calls for fresh strawberries, so we're busy cleaning and slicing. Stop by to chill out and enjoy this summer pastime with us.

The Power of Music Therapy

Friday mornings are always joyful and buzzing with music at our facility. That's because residents crowd in for our weekly Music Therapy. Becky Pittman, a licensed music therapist, has been associated with Liberty for years and her activity is the highlight of the week for many of our residents. Becky has always had a passion for older people, especially those suffering from dementia, and delights in reaching that population through the powerful effects of her music therapy.

Looked Who Hopped In

Look who hopped into our community to spend the day with us! We celebrated the occasion in our Community Room and this Easter we're proud to announce that we boiled and colored a grand total of 150 eggs. Everyone present was required to color an egg and get a photo with the Easter Bunny. It was a very memorable day for staff, residents and their families.

Decorating Committee Creates Another Work of Art

Getting to really know our residents has always been a Liberty priority and it helps our community members thrive. As an example, Jeffrey Whitmeyer, spent many years as a theatrical technician. Jeffrey created theatrical stages for multiple national tours, such as Phantom of the Opera, so he was eager and willing to share his talent with us. As decorating committee leader, he has once again designed a beautiful holiday display. This one is over our lobby's grand fireplace for everyone to enjoy. Thanks Jeffrey for getting us all in the Easter spirit, and we are looking forward to your next creation!

Creativity Time

Even though mornings are always bustling at our community, we try to fit a creative activity into our schedule most mornings. Arts and crafts or baking are very calming ways to start the day off and residents truly look forward to this time. Residents are applying their creativity and currently gearing up for spring by colorfully painting bird houses that we will eventually hang in our courtyard as the weather warms up.

A Toast to 2018

We had our first Happy Hour for 2018. It was a relaxing afternoon, enjoying the company of good friends, cold drinks and 50's rock and roll music. We reminisced about the past year, and made plans for new adventures in 2018. Everyone is looking forward to better weather and staying very busy!

Tree Trimming Underway

Christmas has officially begun for our community. We had all hands on deck this week (staff, residents and family members) helping to trim our massive tree. The honor of hanging the last ornament went to Tim Grimes, our maintenance man. Tim has been with us for four years. He does a wonderful job and was in charge of retrieving this giant from our storage area!
