First and foremost, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of my volunteers that kindly and wholeheartedly helped me out nearly everyday. I will be forever grateful to my volunteers. I would also like to express a thank you to our Mansfield Civitan Club and Cinemark Studios for inviting our community to the presentation of "Alive Inside", a movie that brings a different perspective of care through music in our community. Family members, staff, myself, and volunteers all were in agreement that our facility should be filled with the sound of music for everyone.

The month of March came and went so quickly that this lady seemed caught in a whirlwind! It was a jam packed month beginning with our Golden Buckeye's luncheon with entertainment provided by Frank Sinatra. Of course, our primary votes were handed in. In addition to our happy hour, we enjoyed a surprise, live piano bar performance. Not to mention, our senior Lady's Community dancers stunned us with their amazing tap dancing. But, nothing compared to our St. Patty's day blast. Our very own maintenance manager amazed us all when he and his band gave a performance of a lifetime with beautiful Irish tunes. Hopping soon behind was the one and only Easter Bunny bringing Easter joy to our community Easter Egg Hunt, which was a huge success! So place forgive me for running behind on last months blogs!
It's my first blog of the month and I'd like to use it to salute a very warm, kind and caring lady— Cathy Weaver-Rox. Since her start at Liberty, Cathy has worn many different hats which have given her valuable industry experience. But she decided to take a break from us and used the opportunity to move forward by getting formal education. She's now a shining star at Liberty as our new Administrator and we're so happy to welcome her back home. I'm sure many positive things will come with this fine lady in charge!
We've been busy with resolutions, putting away Christmas decorations, and tidying up after all of the season's festivities. Our Christmas was wonderful, especially the Bingo Marathon, as seen in this photo.
The jolly old man in red arrived at our campus on Christmas Eve with an over abundance of gifts. Residents were excited, but patient, as he greeted them with a warm smile and exuberant "hellos." Evidently everyone had been nice and not naughty because he quickly got to the job at hand—passing out gifts. The room was filled with plenty of chatter and laughter as we all enthusiastically opened them. Once his job was done, away Santa went with a wave and the assurance that he'd see us all again next year.
This has been a busy month for us. Residents and staff have been decorating trees and hallways to make everything cheerful and bright.
Our biggest event of the month yours truly forgot her camera in the office so I will describe what a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast was enjoyed by all of us. The kitchen staff went above and beyond with a delicious turkey and all the trimmings. Our family members graciously provided their loved ones favorite desserts for all of us to enjoy. It was surely an evening to remember. Now, on the same day we received our bus. It is beautiful. Aside from our regular outings to Wal-Mart The Parish for lunch and bingo I can see a fishing trip on the horizon! Certainly many things to be thankful for.
Residents and staff were pumped up today for our monthly cook-off. Nurses and therapy faced off in the great pumpkin challenge! Sweet and savory entries were brought in by staff to be judged by our residents. The residents said it was a very hard decision to make but the nurses won hands down! We enjoyed the afternoon to the fullest and anxiously awaiting next months challenge!
On Sunday Oct. 25th residents and staff member had a surprise visit. We had the pleasure of being entertained by Mike Stevens and The Family Tradition, a well known gospel group in our community. The music was so uplifting. Residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed the event and we're all looking forward to their next visit.
We would like to give a warm congratulations to Diana Johnson. Diana has been an employee at Liberty for 28 years and was just promoted to Activities Director. When she first began her career at Liberty, she was responsible for serving ice water and meal trays.
