Reds Hall of Fame

Posted on 8/29/2019 by Administrator Account

Being Cincinnati-based, it only stands to reason that we are huge Reds fans, so we try to frequently attend their games. Herman, one of residents, is a regular on these outings. He has fond memories of his family going to the games and he loves the sport. On Aug. 16th, our outing included the Reds Hall of Fame. Herman enjoyed learning more history about the team and some of its famous players. Our outing included a nice meal at Holy Grail and all of us, including Herman, are looking for to our September Reds outing— so stay tuned.

The staff at Liberty Nursing Center of Colerain works diligently to keep our facility humming smoothly— so part of out Staff Appreciation program includes a special team meal from time to time. This month, Staff Appreciation included a hearty breakfast bar. Kenyatta, a new STNA, clearly enjoyed jump starting her day. It was a wonderful buffet that included pancakes, sausage, eggs, bacon and smoothies. It's wonderful to be part of team that values everyone's efforts.

Posted on 8/7/2019 by Administrator Account

A big thanks to our Admissions Director, Stacey Hert, who recently arranged for TriHealth to visit our campus. In an effort to make early breast cancer detection available to more women, TriHealth now has a program called Women’s Services Van that provides mobile mammographies using advanced digital mammograpy technology. Here, Michelle from our Housekeeping staff is celebrating that she took advantage of the convenience and got screened.

A Perfect Sunday Service

Posted on 8/7/2019 by Administrator Account

Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, recently took time to visit us. The service was wonderful and residents loved their youth choir. We had a wonderful turnout and the morning was full of joy, along with plenty of singing and dancing. Residents enjoyed themselves so much, that they didn’t want members to leave, so we’re working on scheduling them for more visits very soon. We'd love for you to join us!

Thank you for the wonderful music Kevin Kelsey! Kevin is a retired Colerain fire fighter and policeman. In addition he’s also the grandson of one of our residents. He loves playing the guitar and performing, so he recently entertained us during dinner with delightful, relaxing music.

June Stag Night a Great Success

Posted on 7/11/2019 by Administrator Account

This month, our gentleman residents unanimously decided on cheese coney's from Cincinnati's Gold Star Chili. When you have a craving for one nothing else will do— and boy did they "hit the spot". We always have a good turn out for our monthly Stag Nights, but the idea of these amazing coneys drew out several new attendees. Good conversation and a few friendly rounds of Table Corn Hole topped off a wonderful evening for the men. We hope our newest members join us next month as well.

A Grand Slam

Posted on 7/10/2019 by Administrator Account

Several times throughout the baseball season we try to take in a few Cincinnati Reds games. This past Sunday we watched them play the Cleveland Indians and it was a fantastic day to be out. We enjoyed the company of Liz Isaacs, wife of Cincinnati's police chief, who joined her friend, resident Mrs. Ellie (foreground) for the game. The rivalry was serious because Mrs. Ellie is a Reds fan and Mrs. Isaacs loves the Indians who won, with a score of 11-1.

Tiny Horses With Big Personality

Posted on 6/1/2019 by Administrator Account

While most people are familiar with dogs and cats visiting retirement communities, many are surprised to find out that miniature horses are now being trained as therapy and service companions. Research shows that with their gentle and affectionate nature, diminuitive size and good manners, they have an uncanny ability to connect with children and adults in a very special way. So it's no surprise that we all look forward to a visit from Bonnie Long and her two National Champion miniature horses, Tequilah Sunrise and Impressiable. Bonnie, a skilled rider, personally experienced their calming affect after losing two of her horses. It was through the suggestion of a friend that she looked into miniatures and became hooked. Bonnie's Angels, as the trio is called, are inseparable and regularly visit nursing homes and hospitals, bringing joy and plenty of smiles. We always look forward to their visits.

We have always taken great pride in the friendship bonds that form between our residents and staff. Nurse Sheneda is no exception, and is well-known in our community for her love, patience and compassion. But now she's also known for her generosity. Recognizing that our residents are big on Bingo, she surprised everyone with a generous donation. Now our game not only provides socialization but cash prizes! Thanks very much Sheneda!

Mother's Day Tea Party

Posted on 5/30/2019 by Administrator Account

We celebrated Mother's Day with entertainment by our old friend, Ray Heckman, who has performed for us many times. Ray's beautiful lyrical style on the saxophone was the perfect background for our tea as we nibbled on strawberry cake and cookies. Guests and residents were able to request favorite songs and each received a flower from the performer. We always look forward to Ray's next visit.
